Fitting In Isn’t Worth Losing Myself

It does work for me anymore trying to hide other parts of myself just to fit in, prove myself good or belong.

After a lot of frustration trying to choose just one thing to be in life, I realized that my unusual combination of interests and skills was a strength, not a liability.

You’re Not Just One Thing. Neither Am I.

If you want to thrive in today’s world you must bring to the table your gifts, your personality, your mindset and most importantly, your heart!

Since I was a little girl, I ’ve been insatiably curious about what makes people genuinely fulfilled.

Why do some people struggle while others find a way to thrive, often despite the most challenging circumstances?

You could have found me, dressed up working as a corporate lawyer for one the best law firms in Spain.

I worked at an insane pace just to prove myself as a clever and hard working woman.

Pushing myself was the secret to success, right? So I lived like that for too many years…

Though I came over as a self-empowered and strong woman, when I arrived home I felt exhausted, irritated and empty inside.

I numbed my feelings and needs with the hope that they would eventually disappear….but they didn´t.

I kept myself busy not to feel.

When I had enough of the law firm, I decided to make a change.

There had to be more to life...

Next Stop: The Netherlands

Next stop, the Netherlands. I was young and driven. I worked at boutique firms and multinationals. This time, I knew that I could not only be one corporate lawyer. I could not fit in one box and I will never be. There was more to life for me! Next to my job, I started my personal development journey 13 years ago. I became a mediator, conducted workshops on systemic work, communication (NVC) and contemplation.   Then motherhood hit me hard! I was not the same one anymore…What a rollercoaster of emotions…what a new reality, what a new life!

Next stop: Germany

In Germany, I became a researcher, lecturer, and consultant with one of Europe's leading experts in comparative law, Prof. Christian van Bar.

I thought I was living my dream.

A more relaxed intellectual life surrounded by books, scholars and teaching. What I didn’t realize then was that my mindset was the problem.

I was working with a high-achieving, perfectionist lawyer’s mindset, and though my boss wasn’t pushing me, I was my own worst enemy.

I also began to realize that, as an extrovert, I craved more human interaction and wasn’t truly fulfilled in that university and research environment.

The Power of Being Many Things

After thirteen years working at a high level as a corporate lawyer, consultant, researcher, lecturer, and facilitator in different countries, and a lot of frustration trying to choose just one thing to be in life, I realized that my unusual combination of interests and skills was a strength, not a liability.

I’m not just one thing, and I can bet that neither are you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about a variety of seemingly unconnected things: inner work, entrepreneurship, empowerment, spirituality, and yoga, just to name a few.

My experience as a corporate lawyer and business consultant, along with my roles as a life, career, and business coach, provide me with a unique perspective.

I blend the corporate world, an entrepreneurial spirit, business dynamic, strategy & innovation with a passion for personal empowerment, inner work and self-exploration, now enriched by AI.

A rare and unique blend, right?

That´s me!

"Laura helped me identify my skills and values to find a matching career plan. She is one of those people who make you think outside the box, who makes you believe ‘it is possible’ and together you start discovering also ‘how’. As a result, I successfully transitioned from law to a role in DEI."
